His observations do not reflect the true diversity and range of the material found in the whole area. Pound, 1943a [POU43A]. Fruit - Green or full blanco but none pigmented, smooth or warty with 10 very slight furrows, occasionally short and with a rounded tip. Lignification in pericarp. Seed - all very dark purple, flat or slightly rounded Some resistance to Witches Broom when grown fully exposed to the sun and if the trees are not crowded together (or in vicinity of T. grandiflorum).

Bartley, 1993a [BAR93A]. Identification for type of cocoa introduced into the state of Bahia, presumably from Para state, that was planted extensively. Seeds from this type have since been introduced into other countries and germplasm collections.
