Users taking decisions on matters covered by this package are advised to refer to the source material because of the 'limitations and accuracy' of the data described below.

This package is provided "as is" and without any express or implied warranties, including, without limitation, the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

Limitations and Accuracy of the Data

The data given in this program is as accurate to our sources as possible and we have endeavoured to keep errors introduced in the process of standardisation to a minimum. However, inaccuracies may have been introduced due to errors in original data sources or from our misunderstanding of these sources.

The information provided in the ICGD is based on the clone names used in publications. However, there is not always certainty about the names by which clones are known in research stations and the user must, therefore, bear in mind that discrepancies between research stations in the information on a clone may be caused, not by any remarkable variation within a clone, but by misidentification of the material. In cases when it is suspected that two or more clone names refer to the same material, but where there is not sufficient evidence (such as genetic fingerprints) to warrant any name changes, brief notes appear in the listing of the clone.

We do not always know the exact method by which character data was estimated for a clone due to ommissions in the original records. Therefore, it is possible that measurements provided by two different research stations may not be as similar as they appear in the text.

Recommended Planting Material

Recommendations for planting materials are made by the referenced authors for specific regions and growing conditions. They are provided here as a guide and historic record only. To confirm the most appropriate planting material for your needs and its availability, please contact your local cocoa authority. Details on clones that are available for distribution and guidelines on the safe movement of cacao germplasm can be obtained from the International Cocoa Quarantine Centre, Reading
