Hunter, 1961a [HUN61A]. Fruit - Long, thin Soconusco type. Seed - white. Bartley, 1997a [BAR97A]. Most of the genotypes are very similar with regard to their vegetative and floral characteristics. The fruit shapes also show very little variation as do most other fruit characteristics. Most of these genotypes have fruit with a light green colour and the others have some degree of anthocyanin pigmentation.

Internal severity of infection: scale of six values, assessed 9 weeks after inoculation (0 = 0% of internal tissues affected, 5 = more than 80%). This parameter was used to classify the cultivars. Incidence of infection: sick pods in relation to inoculated pods.

Mexico - INIFAP, Rosario Izapa Disease - Phytophthora palmivora. Datafile: DIS_PHDS - Disease reaction to Phytophthora EXPERIMENTAL CONDITIONS Immature fruit of 58 clones, four months old were innoculated with spores of Phytophthora palmivora isolated from a cocoa plantation. Innoculation was carried out with a drop on the surface on opposite sides of the pod, at a point near the widest circumference; each drop of the suspension was a concentration of approximately 24000 zoospores/ml. Innoculated fruit were covered in a plastic box which contained 10ml of distilled water in the bottom to maintain an atmosphere of high relative humidity. Evaluation of the results took place six days after innoculation. The size of the mark was taken as an average diameter from the point of infection.
