 Bartley, B.G.D. (1993)
Notes on the meaning and origins of clone names. B.G.D Bartley. Personal Communications.

Derivation: alphabetic code.
Collected by Stell.
Location: Ecuador.

Notes:  Witches Broom resistant material sent to Trinidad.

Bartley, 1993a [BAR93A]. This material is referred to by Posnette in his paper on incompatibility (Posnette, 1945a [POS45A]). He describes ".. earlier introductions (to Pound's) from Ecuador to ICTA; although called 'Cacao Venezuela' (E1-5,221-240) and reputed to have originated from Trinidad, they show no affinities with Trinitario". It is not clear why there should be two groups with such divergent numbers or what happened to those numbered 221-240. It is possible that they were in a field behind the sugar factory-in which case they may refer to stand numbers. It is not clear what the origin of the material labelled E 15, E 34 and E 41 is, and is possible that they may come from a different source.
